I/C Head of Department

M.E. in Computer Technology. B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering

The Department of Computer Engineering at MCT’s Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology is one of the oldest and most dynamic departments of the institute. Established in 1996 with an initial intake of 40 students, the department has continuously evolved over the years and now offers 180 seats for the UG (B.Tech.) program, 9 seats for PG (M.Tech.), and 10 seats for Ph.D. programs.

Our primary objective is to empower students with a strong foundation in Computer Science and Engineering through the guidance of highly qualified, motivated, and experienced faculty members and well-equipped laboratories.

Students receive comprehensive exposure to both technical and soft skills, enabling them to meet industry challenges confidently. The department regularly organizes technical workshops, seminars, guest lectures, and industry interaction sessions through collaborations with professional bodies. Students are encouraged to participate in coding competitions, national and international hackathons, spoken tutorials, and in-house product development projects under faculty mentorship. These initiatives help them solve real-world problems and develop innovative solutions within limited timeframes.

In addition, students actively pursue certification programs such as NPTEL, STAR, Red Hat, CISCO, and Infosys Springboard, which further strengthen their technical competency. The department also provides numerous opportunities for internships and research activities, including technical report writing, publication of research papers, and filing of copyrights and patents.

We follow a student-centric approach, leveraging faculty expertise and continuously updating the curriculum in line with the latest technological trends. Mentorship programs and regular alumni interactions help foster social, technical, and professional growth among students.

Our graduates maintain an excellent placement record, with many pursuing higher studies in reputed institutions across the globe.

The department is strongly committed to “Transforming Students into Industry-Ready Professionals.”
